Since the start of the previous year, we’ve had glimpses of what the future of the automobile industry looks like – high-end vehicles with the latest technologies, electric integration, stronger and more convenient. When it comes to the production of luxury SUVs, only a few brands can go head-to-head with Land Rover as the brand has become one of the go-to brands for those who need to get their hands on luxury SUVs over the past decades. There are lots of luxury SUVs on the market right now, but only a few can boast Land Rover Range Rover’s rich history. The luxury SUV has been a popular choice for many world leaders and celebrities across the globe – it’s safe to say the vehicle itself is made for the elites. The vehicle is returning for the 2022 model year with new technologies, advanced safety features, powertrains, and many more. Land Rover has also confirmed that the Range Rover SV will be debuting in 2023 with different trims and ultra-high-end features that will leave many car enthusiasts and experts alike bemused.

For the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover, the all-wheel steering is standard, giving drivers the confidence that indicates they’re in total control of their vehicle. The fifth-generation Range Rover model continues to carry the torch for the Land Rover brand. We believe the brand has done a lot to get here and no chances are being taken, which explains why the brand has gone all-in with this new fifth-generation model. For many years, a lot of folks believed Land Rover overpriced the Range Rover, but we think we’ve reached the point where people will agree with the asking price as appropriate and not so outlandish after all. We’re not saying the Range Rover that dates back to half a century ago doesn’t have what it takes to attract wealthy people who won’t mind the asking price regardless of what’s asked of them to chunk out. The new vehicle’s leather-lined limo now means those who are investing in the vehicle will get the best value for their money, regardless of the trim they spend on.

Land Rover has included upscale finishes for the cabin such as thickly-piled carpeting, wood, and leather. If you’re investing in the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover, you can choose from a turbocharged inline-six engine or the powerful twin-turbo V8 engine that cranks out a whopping 523 horsepower. Despite being a luxury SUV, Land Rover has managed to make the vehicle capable of going off-road with several features like air suspension that can be raised for some ground clearance, an all-wheel-drive system, and a rear-wheel steering system among many others.

What trims are available for the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover?

Buyers will have lots of options to choose from with the Land Rover Range Rover as it comes in different configurations and trims – Base, Westminster, Autobiography, SVAutobiography Dynamic, SVAutobiography Dynamic Black Edition, and SVAutobiography. Three of the six trims – Base, SVAutobiography Dynamic, and SVAutobiography Dynamic Black Edition – all come with the standard wheelbase, while two other trims – Westminster and Autobiography – are available in a long-wheelbase configuration. The only trim that features a long wheelbase is the SVAutobiography. For the record, all the trims are equipped with all-wheel drive, so if that’s your priority in a vehicle, you can enjoy it no matter which trim you decide to settle for at the end of the day.

What’s New With Styling?

If you’re not so familiar with vehicles, you may mistake the new 2022 Land Rover Range Rover with the new Rivian R1S, Lyriq, or Hummer EV. You can feel the change from every angle as the new SUV offers a more subtle look that’s better than what the previous generation had to offer. You expect an SUV capable of going off-road to look tough, which is how most of these off-road SUVs have been portrayed over the past few years. However, Land Rover has a special way of making its vehicle look special, and that’s why it’s hard to tell that the new 2022 Range Rover is a tough vehicle because it has luxury and comfort written all over it. The vehicle’s brightwork is perfectly implemented into the lower bumper to make the flush side glass more obvious, bringing out the beauty around the lower part of the vehicle. If you invest in the vehicle, you’ll get to enjoy a U-shaped metallic trim at the front door hinges which is there to add more class to the vehicle.

Performance

For all it’s worth, Land Rover promised to give people enough reasons to be excited and also stay excited, and they’ve stayed true to that promise. This is the first Range Rover that’ll feature 23-inch wheels, while in the next few years, we’ll see Land Rover deliver on more promises such as the first Range Rover battery-only power which will arrive in 2022, although more details have not yet been confirmed by Land Rover. Before Land Rover released the all-electric Range Rover, a plug-in hybrid will arrive for the 2023 model year, giving buyers the chance to finally get a glimpse of what the future looks like for Range Rover as long as electric integration is concerned. The upcoming vehicle will feature up to 62 miles of plug-in driving as it features a 38.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a 105-kW electric motor. Can we, for a minute, live in the present?

While we anticipate the arrivals of those two vehicles (EV and plug-in Range Rover), let’s focus on the engines available for the different 2022 Range Rover trims. The 2022 Range Rover is available in four powertrains, with every engine being mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The powertrains include P360: turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder that cranks out 355 horsepower and 365lb-ft of torque, P400: a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 395 horsepower and 406lb-ft of torque, P525: supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 518 horsepower and 461lb-ft of torque, and SVO: supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 557 horsepower and 516lb-ft of torque.

Safety features

There are lots of expectations on the new 7-passenger luxury SUV, and if there’s one area the vehicle has improved greatly, it’s safety. That’s not to say the vehicle has lacked proper safety features over the years, and as good as they may all have been, the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover is packed with features like Head-up Display, 3D Surround-view Camera, Parking Aids, Blind-spot Warning System, Traffic Sign Recognition, Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Driver-condition Monitoring System, and Lane-keeping Assistance.

According to J.D. Power, the new Land Rover models have not yet been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration due to low-volume sales and the cost to test each vehicle. However, we strongly believe that Land Rover would never put its reputation in jeopardy, thus packing all its vehicles with advanced safety systems that combine well to give drivers ultimate confidence whenever they’re riding in one of their Land Rover vehicles.

Infotainment and technology

Many saw Land Rover’s Pivi Pro infotainment software as one of the major drawbacks for most Land Rover vehicles because it didn’t live up to expectations. Things have taken a different turn with the new Land Rover models as the brand has invested heavily in the software which runs on a 13.1-inch touchscreen with a 13.7-inch configurable digital gauge cluster. Some of the other infotainment features include Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Qi Wireless Charging, and Amazon Alexa.

Pricing

Despite having many trims, the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover is available in three basic models – standard short-wheelbase, 7 seats long-wheelbase, and an extra-posh five-seater long-wheelbase variant, with each costing $105,530, $111,350, and $157,350 respectively after adding the mandatory $1,350 destination charge.
